FAQs
I can't make these sessions live. Do I still qualify for the certification?
This course is designed to be interactive; therefore, attending live is by far preferable. In addition, there are 1.5 hours of partner work every class that you will need to participate in and the partner work will depend on being familiar with the content we discussed in the class. Provided you can find a partner outside of class time and complete the exercises in addition to listening to the two (2) recorded sessions from every Sunday, you will still qualify for the certification.
What happens if I need to miss one day, will the sessions be recorded?
While it is always preferable to be there live, every group session is recorded and will be sent out within 12- 24 hours.
*I see that there are partnering exercises. Can I work on my own instead?
You do have the option to self-facilitate during the partnering exercises. However, it is very encouraged for you to partner for two of the four Sundays.
Does this course count towards my B.Ed. degree?
No. This is a supplemental course that covers material not covered in your education degree that will support your own mental-emotional health primarily as well as give you a key tool to support your students' mental health.
Is this the same thing as an AQ (Additional Qualification) course?
No, this is not an AQ course as those are only delivered by universities. iWe gives its own certification and calls this a micro-credential course.
What makes this different from other mental health courses?
This course is offering something no other program is currently offering, which is training in the tool IBSR (Inquiry Based Stress Reduction). Crucially, this is a hands-on practical course that is very light on theory, instead focusing on your own life situation and stressors that you are currently encountering. You will be putting the tool into practice immediately in the course so that by the end of the course you can feel confident in your ability to practice IBSR and take this tool with you into your daily life.
I can't afford this right now, do you offer scholarships?
The regular price for this course is $497 but iWe offers two options to make it more affordable: 1) If you register by the early bird date, it's a full $100 cheaper 2) You can split the payment into two and just pay the deposit now and pay the balance before the start of the course. We would love to offer scholarships and we invite donations to make that happen, so hopefully in the future. Don't forget that having a mental health certification will augment your resumé and pay off in the long run.
I'm a social work student / social worker. Will this course be relevant to my work?
Very much so. Social workers can deal with intense, emotional situations in their job and need to learn how to support their own mental health. The course design is centred around the IBSR tool, and although education work and social work have much in common, there will be ample opportunity to address your specific stressful job situation(s).
